You Already Know What You Need to Change. So Why Haven't You?

Let me say something you might not want to hear.

You already know.

You know the relationship is not working. You know the job is draining you. You know the pattern you keep repeating. You have probably known for a while. You have read the books. You have had the conversations. You have sat in the awareness of it.

And still. Nothing has changed.

This is the thing I see over and over again with people who come into this work. They are not short on insight. They are short on something else. And that something else is what we need to talk about.

Insight and Awareness Are Not the Same Thing

There is a difference between knowing something and being aware of it.

Knowing lives in your head. It is the story you tell yourself about what is happening. It is the analysis. The explanation. The understanding you have built around why you are the way you are.

Awareness lives in your body. It is the thing you feel before you have words for it. The tightness in your chest before a hard conversation. The way your shoulders come up when someone asks too much of you. The moment you go quiet when you actually wanted to speak.

Most people have developed enormous capacity for knowing. We are very good at thinking about our lives. What we have not been taught is how to feel them.

And that gap, the one between knowing and awareness, that is exactly where change either happens or does not.

Why Insight Alone Does Not Create Change

Insight gives you a map. Awareness lets you move.

You can understand every reason why you shut down emotionally and still shut down. You can know exactly where the pattern started and still repeat it. Understanding the origin story of a wound does not close it.

What actually creates change is when you can catch the pattern in the moment it is happening. Not after. Not in the debrief you do with yourself at midnight. In the breath right before the reaction. In the body sensation that shows up before the behavior.

That is a skill. And like every skill, it takes practice.

This is what consciousness work actually is. Not more analysis. Not another framework you carry around in your head. It is training your attention to be present to what is actually happening inside you, in real time, so you have a choice.

So What Do You Do With This

Start smaller than you think you need to.

Pick one pattern. One. The one you notice most. Maybe it is the way you go into fix-it mode when someone is upset with you. Maybe it is the way you overcommit and then disappear. Maybe it is the way you perform confidence while quietly waiting to be found out.

Now instead of analyzing it, just notice it. Without trying to change anything. Where does it show up in your body when it starts? What is the very first signal, before the behavior takes over?

That is the work. Right there.

You are not behind. You are not broken. You are just working with the wrong tool. You have been trying to think your way into a feeling. And it does not go that direction.

My name is Eddie Marashian. I have been sitting with people in some of the most honest conversations of their lives for over 30 years.

I am a consciousness coach, a yoga and meditation teacher, and someone who genuinely believes that most of what we call anxiety, confusion, or feeling stuck is not a flaw. It is a signal. One you have not yet had the space to hear.

My work is not about fixing you. You are not broken. It is about helping you slow down enough to understand what is actually happening inside you, and then finding the clarity and courage to move from there.

Calm is not the goal. Calm is what happens when you stop fighting yourself. That is the work. If you are looking for a grounded space to do something real, I would be honored to be part of it.
